Altairians (Synthetic Human)
Version: 1.0

The Altairians are the remnants of an ancient culture that was very technologically advanced. This culture irradiated their own atmosphere about 11,000 years ago making the surface of the planet inhospitable. The 1000 or so survivors moved into an underground complex created by an man named Harlan.

The Altairians look like normal humans on the outside. However, they are made of synthetic flesh and have mechanical components on the inside. The synthetic body can usually be repaired giving the Altairians and extremely long life span.

Their bodies require a constant stream of energy feed from emitter in the underground complex. The synthetic bodies can only operate a few hours outside the complex. The consciousness of the individual can be transferred to a new synthetic body, but this is not always successful.

Planet of Origin: Altair, P3X-989

Appearances: Tin Man
Alignment: Any
Attributes: I.Q. 3D6, M.E. 3D6, M.A. 3D6, P.S. 3D6, P.P. 3D6, P.E. 4D6, P.B. 3D6, Spd. 3D6
Average Height: 5 to 6 feet
Weight: 110 to 180 average. They are surprising light for synthetic beings.
Hit Points: P.E. plus 1D6. The synthetic body does not grow stronger over time
S.D.C./M.D.C.: 35 S.D.C. synthetic body.
Horror Factor: 5 to those not used to seeing humans.
Racial Base P.P.E.: 2 points. This is the life essence of the synthetic being. P.P.E. is only a trace and does not increase over time.
Average Life Span: With good maintenance or transfers into new synthetic bodies, the Altairians are virtually immortal.
Natural Abilities: None

Vulnerabilities/Penalties: The Altairians cannot function without a separate power source. Typically this is provided by emitters throughout the underground complex. External power packs can be used to power their bodies for extended periods of time outside the complex. Without power the bodies will only function for 1D4+1 hours before shutting down. Loss of power means certain death for the synthetic body and the consciousness contained in it.

Bonuses: The Altairians are immune to all forms of mind control. They are also resistant to disease, hunger and thirst. Their synthetic bodies only need constant power to function.

O.C.C.s: The Altairians can learn new skills and take on O.C.C.s as long as they can power themselves outside the complex.

Alliances and Allies: None.

Notes on the Race: Unfortunately most of the Altairians died when they went to the surface of their world committing suicide. Some did go through the Stargate with individual power supplies. Harlan died taking all his knowledge on the synthetic creation process and the consciousness transfer device.

Synthetic Replication System: This device can create a synthetic replica of either a living human or another synthetic being. It takes twice as long to create a synthetic copy of a living human than of another synthetic body. The process takes 1D4 hours for a synthetic body or 1D4+4 hours for a live human.

Consciousness Transference System: Although this devices is very advanced, it is not perfect. The device has a 85% chance of success when transferring the consciousness of a living being into a synthetic body. There is a -2% penalty for each transfer from synthetic body to synthetic body. This means the more often the mind is transferred, the greater the chance of failure. This system could possibly transfer a consciousness from a synthetic body to a real body. There is a 35% chance of success if being transferred into a willing or unconscious host. There is a 45% chance of success if the consciousness is being transferred into a 'blank' mind. There is only a 9% chance of success if transferring into an unwilling host or a body inhabited by a Goa'uld symbiote.
