The Abydonians are the desert dwelling society that was featured in the Stargate Feature Film and in the Stargate SG-1 TV series. They appear in episodes Children of the Gods and Full Circle. They are from the planet Abydos which has two moons and a 36 hour day.

The Abydonians are descendants of the Egyptian culture from Earth. They were brought to Abydos several thousand years ago. Eventually, Anubis attacks Abydos killing the 5000 or so inhabitants. Oma helps each of the Abydonians to ascend death (including Daniel Jackson).

Basically before they Abydonians ascended, they were ordinary humans.
