EVA-02 is the first Eva production model to be constructed, and is therefore
a template for future Evangelions, at least it was deemed to be the case at the
time of its construction. Unit 02 is piloted by Asuka Langley Soryu; the second
child, and is the only Eva to have experienced extreme conditions such as
engaging an Angel in aquatic combat, and worst still beneath seventeen hundred
meters of molten lava.
MODEL
TYPE: PRODUCTION MODEL EVA-02
CLASS: Anti-Angel Combat Evangelion
CREW: One pilot in the Entry Plug, in
emergency situations, two suitable teenagers can pilot the Evangelion, as long
as they function on the same thought language, or, two passengers can sit behind
the pilot, however this causes 'thought noise', which will be explained below in
the Entry Plug Synchronization System.

* Every body part on the Evangelion aside from the main body and shoulder
wings, require called strikes to hit at long range, with a -1 to strike legs
and arms, -2 to strike the head, and -3 to strike the hands & power
umbilical. It is important to note that every bit of the damage caused to
the Evangelion WILL be felt by the pilot in an ammount of pain to scale with
the severity of the damage. More information on this is below.
**Destruction of the main body's M.D.C. will send horrible shock through the
body of the Evangelion's body.
The pilot MUST make a roll to save vs. coma/death -25% or pass out into a
coma, which afterwards they must be treated by high-quality medical
facilities, otherwise within 30 minutes they will die.
***Destruction of the entry plug will KILL the pilot inside. The entry plug
can only be damaged if all of the Main Body M.D.C. is depleted, or if the
entry plug is ejected.
SPEED:
RUNNING: The Evangelion at a full run, can attain
speeds up to 300kmph.
LEAPING: Without any kind of running start, the
Evangelion can leap up to 300m, with a good running start it could probably
clear a kilometer in one bound!
STASTICAL DATA:
HEIGHT: 60 meters standing fully upright,
normally the Evangelions take a lower profile stance in combat, usually
measuring at 50m.
PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Equal to a Robotic P.S. of 200
POWER SYSTEM: The independent power system on the
Evangelions is very limited, only enough power to keep the Evangelion
functioning for 1 minute (5 minutes in minimal function mode). With special
batteries stored on the Shoulder Wings back however, this can be extended to
30 minutes. Normally the Evangelion uses a back linked power cable to keep
functioning. As long as the cable is attached, the Eva can function
indefinatly (or as long as the generator at NERV HQ lasts).
WEAPON SYSTEMS:
All weapon systems available to the EVA-01 are
available to the EVA-02.
SYSTEMS OF NOTE ON THE PRODUCTION MODEL EVA-02
A.T. (ABSOLUTE TERROR) FIELD: This is a defensive system installed on the Evangelion, which
works identically to the defensive fields on the Angels. The EVA-02 has a
moderate AT Field able to deflect any attack equal to or under 300 M.D.(any
attack over that does full damage). However it is known, that one A.T. Field can
be neutralized, by creating another within a 10m distance, which overlaps and
obliterates the phase space, rendering both fields inoperable.
COMPUTER & LASER TARGETING SYSTEM: The
EVA-02 has a sophisticated targeting system, on aimed shots the EVA-02 has +4 to
strike with long-range weapon systems. With burst weapons this bonus is reduced
to +1.
ENTRY PLUG ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION:
The Entry Plug is an environmentally sealed system, suitable for protection the
pilot in all but the most hostile environments (diving into magma comes to
mind). The following features are included.
- Computer controlled life support system
- Internal cooling and temperature
- LCL Purification system, the system can keep the LCL pure for breathing
for approx. 16 hours.
- Insulated, high temperature resistant for up to 600 degrees centigrade.
Normal fires do no damage. Nuclear and plasma fires do full damage.
- Radiation Shielded.
ENTRY PLUG SYNCHRONIZATION SYSTEM:
This system is the crowning achievement of NERV. It allows what so far no other
piloting system has been able to accomplish, the synchronization of the pilot
and his craft, to the point that they are one. This allows precision
controlling, and enables the Evangelion to handle such difficult tasks that we
take for granted (walking, jumping, precision accuracy). This is done through a
series of system within a tube system known as the Entry Plug. The first set of
systems are on the pilot, those being the Entry Plug Suit (I'm unsure of what
contributions it makes to the system) and the brain-uplink clips which are
clipped into the hair near the scalp of the pilot. The second set aide is the
LCL which fills the Entry Plug, LCL is an interesting liquid that allows the
pilot to survive without breathing, by directly oxygenating blood. Without
having to focus on the vital task of air intake, the pilots mind can synchronize
with the Evangelion better. Last is the Logic system, which reads the pilots
mental commands much like the brain reads the commands we give it through the
process of thought, and joins them with the manual controls, enabling the
precision that makes the Evangelions move with human speed and agility. However
there are several drawbacks to the Entry Plug System. It appears that only
certain children, born within 6 months of the Second Impact, are able to use the
Synchronization System, and it has shown the tendancy to put a great mental
strain on the pilot after a certain ammount of time (Save vs. insanity -2 after
the pilots first combat run, then again for every month the pilot continues to
operate, -1 to M.E. everytime the save is failed, the maximum penelty that can
be reached is -5, after that apply no more penelties). Also, the greatest
disadvantage, and something that seems to link the Evangelions as something much
more than machines, is that the pilot feels pain from damage caused to the
Evangelion, in the degree that they would if the Evangelion were their own body!
In episodes 1, 3, and 5 we can see how Shinji suffers as the Angels cause
horrible damage to the EVA-01, when the first Angel broke it's arm and then
drove a laser spear right through the EVA's head, and when the second Angel
stabs through the EVA's body with it's energy ribbons, and when the third Angel
fires a particle blast into the chest of the EVA, that causes Shinji to have a
heart attack. As such, for every attack that would either destroy or do an
ammount of damage equal to 1/2 a body part's M.D.C., the pilot MUST make a save
vs. pain (14 or higher) or suffer as he would if the attack was made on him, and
if a single attack does an ammount of damage to the main body equaling 3/4 it's
M.D.C., the pilot must must make a save vs. pain -4, or they will suffer a
massive heart attack from the shock, and must be ressuciated by proper medical
faciliaties.
SYNCHRONIZATION PERCENTAGES W/ PRODUCTION MODEL EVA-02: This is the
percentage (rounded down, unless a different value is given) of the abilities
(speed, physical strength, etc.) and combat bonuses that can be accessed by the
pilot at their current experience of Synchronization with the Evangelion.
- First Run: 40%, can only maintain a slow walk of 30kmph,
if any speed over that is attempted the Eva will fall over.
- For the current level of experience after the First Run
(i.e. if a pilot was level 2 during his first run, this would be his
synchronization % until he gained a new level): 50%
- Next level of Experience (i.e. if a pilot was level 2
during his first run, this would be his synchronization % when he became
level 3): 60%
- After 3rd Level of experience with the Evangelion: 87%
- After 4th level of experience with the Evangelion: 105%
- After 5th level & beyond: +30% at every new level
- After every 3 Combat Runs: +10% (to their current Synch
%)
SYNCHRONIZATION PENELTIES & BONUSES: Certain situations can
and will modify the a persons Synchronization Rate.
- Two pilots attempting to operate the Evangelion on the same thought
Language, -10%
- Two pilots attempting to operate the Evangelion on different thought
Languages (like when Asuka had EVA-02 set for German but Shinji was thinking
in Japanese), IMPOSSIBLE TO OPERATE!
- One pilot attemtping to operate with passengers operating on the same
thought language, -15% for one passenger, -20% for two.
- Emotional focus, if the pilot makes a d20 roll under their M.E. (note in
this case, the Synchro System M.E. penelties count as bonuses!) during an
extremely emotional and/or important situation, they will gain a +20%
Synchronization bonus for 1d4 minutes.
POWER
UMBILICAL: This is the key to the Evangelion's
operation in the field. Nuclear systems are to heavy and far to dangerous to
install in a combat mech, there for an external energy source is supplied via
the back-plugged power umbilical. If the umbilical is ever cut or disconnected
from the Evangelion, it will have to rely on it's own backup power supply, which
normally only last's one full minute (or 5 minutes with extra batteries stored
in the shoulder wings). The Umbilical normally has a length of up to 20km, but
it can be extended to three-times (60km) the mentioned length if required.
RADAR: Sophisticated
Radar, can track up to 35 targets simultaneously RANGE: 50 kilometers
SCRAMBLER RADIO:
Sophisticated communications system installed into each EVA, the scrambled
singal can only be unscrambled (so far) by the systems on every EVA and at NERV
HQ. RANGE: 35km
PRODUCTION MODEL EVA-02 COMBAT BONUSES
- Do not forget to employ Synchronization %'s.
- 3 attacks per melee (plus those of the pilot)
- +4 to roll with punch, fall, or impact (explosion), reducing damage by
half.
- +4 to strike, parry, and dodge.
- Critical Strike same as pilots hand to hand
- When the pilot's Synchronization rate is 110% or better, Critical strike
on natrual 17-20.
- HTH Damage is given up with weapon systems .
