Background

Designed late during the One Year War of the Universal Century Era, the highly advanced AMA-X2 Neue Ziel mobile armor was never built before the war's end. Instead, remnant Zeon forces who escaped to the asteroid base Axis took the plans with them, where it would later be constructed by the Axis forces. When another remnant Zeon force, the Delaz Fleet, began its "Operation Stardust" against the Earth Federal Forces in UC 0083, Axis sent an advance fleet out to support Delaz. Their support came in the form of rescue and retrieval of Delaz's surviving troops, as well as a new mobile armor: the Neue Ziel, now designated AMX-002. Using the Neue Ziel, ace pilot Anavel Gato would almost singlehandedly decimate the Federation's pursuit fleet attempting to stop a hijacked space colony being dropped on Earth. Gato would also use the Neue Ziel to punch through the heavy defenses of the Federal Forces' Earth Orbital Fleet protecting their Solar System II weapon, allowing Gato to destroy the weapon's control ship and preventing the colony from being destroyed before crashing on Earth.

 

The Neue Ziel ("neue ziel" being German for "new goal") was truly ahead of its time. Sporting a powerful generator to power the large number of mega particle guns and beam weapons on its body, the Neue Ziel also mounted a pair of wire-controlled, beam gun-equipped arms that could be used to make all-range attacks in a fashion similar to the MAN-03 Braubro or MSN-02 Zeong. However, these arms were controlled with the aid of a computer "half-control" sytem, thus negating the need for a psycommu system and allowing non-Newtypes to perform these kinds of attacks. The Neue Ziel was also equipped with a set of I-field barrier generators, giving the mobile armor 360 degrees of protection against all beam weapon attacks.

WEAPON SYSTEMS:

1. MEGA-CANNON (1): OUCH!
Primary Purpose: Anti-Starship
Mega-Damage: 2d6x100 M.D.
Range: 6,000ft
Rate of Fire: One shot per melee
Payload: Effectively unlimited.

2. MEGA-PARTICLE GUNS (6): Mounted across each of the boosters/shoulders of the Neue Ziel are Mega-Particle Guns. These weapons function as the main offensive weapon of the Mobile Armour.
Primary Purpose: Heavy Assault
Mega-Damage: 6d6x10 M.D. each
Range: 6000ft
Rate of Fire: Each can be fired 4 times per melee, the weapons can be fired in tandems of 2, 4, or all 6.
Payload: Unlimited

3. MEGA-PARTICLE GUNS/BEAM SABERS (2): Built into both of the main arms are special mega-particle guns. These weapons can either fire a particle beam, or function as a large beam saber (like the one used by the Unit-03).
Primary Purpose: Assault/Melee Combat
Mega-Damage: Mega-Particle Gun: 4d6x10 M.D, Beam Saber: 2d4x100 M.D.
Range: Particle Gun: 6000ft, Beam Saber: The blade can changed from 30-120ft (10-40m).
Rate of Fire: Equal to pilots combinded melee attacks.
Payload: Effectively unlimited.


4. BOOST BINDERS (2): Attached to each of the Boosters is a Boost Binder. This weapon system contains both large & micro-missile launchers.
Primary Purpose: Assault
Mega-Damage: Large Missile: 5d6x10 each w/ a 35ft blast radius, Micro-Missile: 2d4x10 each.
Range: Large Missile: 50 miles, Micro-Missiles: 2 miles
Rate of Fire: Either type of missiles can either be fired in single shot, or a volley of 2, 4, 8, or 10.
Payload: 10 Large missiles per Binder (20 total), and 60 micro-missiles per Binder (120 total)


5. TAIL BINDER (1): The Tail Binder works much akin to the Boost Binder. Except it has 3 Mega-Particle Guns and no Large missiles.
Primary Purpose: Heavy Assault
Mega-Damage: Mega-Particle Guns: 6d6x10 M.D. each, Micro-Missiles: 2d4x10.
Range: Particle Guns: 6000ft, Micro-Missiles: 2 miles
Rate of Fire: Particle Guns can be fired 4 times per melee, and single shot or tandems of 2 or 3. The Micro-Missiles can be fired single shot or in volleys of 2, 4, 8, or 10.
Payload: Particle Gun: Unlimited, Micro-Missiles: 120 total

6. I-FIELD BARRIER GENERATOR: This is a special defense system built into the Neue Ziel. The I-field is what is used to contain and reflect Minovski Particles, it's what used in the Minovski Engines and in Beam Sabers and Cannons. It's nearly impossible to build a generator on a normal mobile suit however, it is possible to build them onto large mobile armours. This field is totally invulnerable to all forms of Beam Weapons, but is totally useless against any other form of attack (making it effective against starships wielding massive beam cannons).

Mega-Damage: his field does no mega-damage, however it has unlimited M.D.C. vs. all Beam Weapons of any kind. Against any other weapon the field is useles
Range: The field is projected in a 50ft radius away from the furthest ends of the Neue Ziel


OPTIONAL HAND-TO-HAND COMBAT: Main Arm strike 2d4x10 M.D., Sub Arm Strike 1d4x10. Pilots who have experience with giant robots get full bonuses from Robot Basic combat training.

SYSTEMS NOTE: The Neue Ziel is an extreamly agile mobile armour. +3 to strike, parry, & dodge, +2 attacks per melee.

STANDARD EQUIPMENT FOR THE NEUE ZIEL

OPTICAL TARGETING SYSTEM: Mobile Suits have very sophisticated optical tracking systems to assist the pilot in targeting. This system provides the pilot with a +2 to hit when using projectile or beam weapons. However, since the tracking system is optical, the target must be IN DIRECT LINE OF SIGHT from the MS in order to get the bonus.
COMBAT COMPUTER: Contains data on up to 120 different vehicles (both friend and foe). Can call up and project data on the HUD screens in the cockpit.
LASER COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM: The Mobile Armour has a laser based communications system that allows the mecha to communicate over long distances. The only disadvantage is that the mobile suits have to be looking at each other in order communicate.
RADIO COMMUNICATIONS: Backup; usually doesn't work due to Minovski interference.
WIRED HEAVY CLAW ARMS: The two main arms of the Neue Ziel have high strength wires and thrusters attached, which enable them to be 'fired' and manuever around, allowing the built in mega-particle guns/beam sabers to move around corners and increase striking range. The cable has a length of 300m (900ft)
HIDDEN SUB ARMS: Two retractable sub-arms are built into each of the Mobile Armours Boosters. These arms can be brought out at any time. They're usually used for getting an enemy in grab, after all it's hard to break free from 4 Arms with a Robotic P.S. of 60 each. The arms have a reach of 20m (60ft).
COMPLETE ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION SYSTEM: Identical to the system described on Pg. 214 of the Rifts RPG book.


COMBAT BONUSES FOR MOBILE ARMOUR COMBAT TRAINING:

NOTE: These bonuses do NOT take into consideration special NewType piloting abilities.

  • Two hand to hand attacks per melee (plus those of pilot).
  • +1 to strike.
  • +3 to parry.
  • +3 to dodge.
  • +4 to roll with punch, fall, or impact (explosion), reducing damage by half.
  • Critical strike same as pilot's hand to hand.
  • One additional attack at level five.
  • One additional attack at level ten.
